Thank you to all who regularly donate to our local food pantries. The need is ever increasing.
We could use: spaghetti sauce, pasta, canned meat products (ravioli, hash, etc.), cereal, coffee, and canned veggies and fruit.
Other non-perishables are always welcome.
Monetary donations are also helpful as some things need to be purchased regularly. Envelopes are on the bulletin boards for these donations.
The pantry is always in need of your items! Please drop off an item or two in the container at the church entrance.
The Christian Outreach has been an active ministry at St. Joseph's & St. Paul's for many years. Originally named Helping Hands, the mission has always been the same. We strive to reach out & assist those in need from our parish, our local community, & beyond.
The parish has always responded generously to our requests for donations for various worthwhile causes. School supplies are expensive & many families have difficulty covering the cost at a time of year when their children need new clothes for school. Your contributions to our annual school campaign in August help so many local families. Birthright is also an organization that our parish supports. By donating money & baby items, we assist women facing unplanned pregnancies. Thanksgiving & Christmas are holidays to celebrate with family gatherings, but for some families, the monetary impact causes stress & disappointment. The Thanksgiving baskets & Giving Tree donations you provide help alleviate that stress & make the holiday season merrier for so many. Our local food pantries in Greenfield & Rock City Falls assist families in need all year round. Donations are always welcome.
New to our program this year was the parish's participation in a Rebuilding Together Saratoga project. Our assignment was a local home that the owner had difficulty maintaining, due to financial & health reasons. Parish volunteers spent the day doing yard work, cleaning out the basement, adding safety features in the bathroom, & building a new stair rail outside. The home owner was so grateful. His life was definitely improved, but the volunteers also benefitted by knowing they had made a difference that day. Please consider signing up next spring when the parish will tackle another Rebuilding Together Saratoga project!
The Christian Service committee's most recent collection has been for VETHELP. Your generous donations of household items went to male and female veterans living in transitional houses in Ballston Spa. A tour of the home for the women revealed that there is a true need there and they appreciated everything so much.
Our committee wishes to thank all of you who contribute time and again to our programs to help those in need. You are truly doing the work of Christ on earth. Please note that new volunteers are always welcome to join the Christian Service Committee!
